July 26th - Weekly Friday News Update (click here)

Our transition to Keystone formally takes place Thursday 8/1.  As we shift from FS to Keystone there will be a learning curve.  Please be patient with the staff as they learn a new system. You can either make your August payment by check at the office or wait until your first statement arrives from Keystone next week.  It will contain information for setting up auto pay.  The board and members from CRC will be training with a Keystone trainer on Monday 7/29 so we can assist you.  Our new General Manager, Vartan Yacoubian (Von) will start 8/19, but we will have a Keystone Manager here daily until the 19th.  As always please contact me if you have any questions.

We are excited to report that Bob has completed the timers on units 1,1A,2,4,5,10 and 11. His backordered modules will be here Monday and the rest of the units should be completed by the end of the week. All timers should be completed well within the time frame allotted by the state’s rebate program. Your sprinklers will be running regularly at night Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday. This is coming at a great time, the projection is water rates will raise 14% next year. Thank you all for being so patient!

Litigation update, For those of you following along with our litigation progress, I have attached the latest filing in objection to the VLBD deposition.

Dear residents, about a month ago in the Friday-E blast I pointed out 4 major landscape rules regarding making changes to the common area without the Landscape Committee (LSC) permission. I received plently of negative feedback regarding the rules I stated.

I neglected to state WHAT YOU CAN DO. In general residents DO NOT NEED PERMISSION to “do light-duty yard work around their homes. This includes caring for plantings, pulling weeds, cutting off dead flowers, raking, pruning, and minor pest control.” “Watering of…..new plantings or plants in distress” is allowed. Pots and planters are allowed and there is no limit to how many you may have as long as they do not block doorways, sidewalks or sprinklers. (From Residents Handbook (2024), pg 7).

If you want to do modifications (larger projects) to the common area around your home you will need LSC approval.

Thanks for understanding everyone, and I thank you for your feedback.

Kathleen Dowling, OCA, VP

Message from the 503 Vista Bella Ad Hoc Committee:

Last reminder for the Town Hall meeting with City Councilmember Eric Joyce on Tuesday, July 30 at 6:00 pm in the auditorium. We need to make a strong showing to demonstrate our dedication and determination to fight this project! Our community represents a strong voting block in all upcoming elections and Councilmember Joyce needs to be reminded of what our concerns are, regarding the negative impacts of this proposed apartment tower.

Any questions, or if you would like to become a part of the Ad Hoc Committee, please contact Committee Chair Ellen Marciel at [email protected].

Sincerely,
Michael Flores
General Manager

New Technology to Streamline Emergency Evacuations
Post Date:06/03/2024 1:42 PM

New technology launched in May will help streamline any emergency evacuations in Oceanside and throughout the region. Evacuation zones delineated with Genasys EVAC technology will help regional emergency managers send out precise location-based alerts during an emergency evacuation. Oceanside will use this technology as part of a concerted effort to innovate to keep residents safe and informed during emergencies.

Specific map zones were developed for Oceanside by a coalition of local emergency managers, law enforcement, and fire officials. The team used geographical boundaries like canyons, rivers, freeways, and neighborhoods to create more logical and precise mapping zones. This mapping system will provide more specific evacuation areas, which will limit larger unnecessary evacuations. This will also support more efficient repopulations to get people back into their homes sooner.

Genasys EVAC will be integrated into AlertSanDiego.org and the SD Emergency app. Residents who are already registered do not need to re-subscribe. Please ensure you are registered for emergency alerts through AlertSanDiego.org and the SD Emergency app. You’ll get information about evacuations, emergency shelters and more.  For local information on things like Oceanside road closures and missing people, sign up for “Ready Oceanside” by texting the word Oceanside to 67283 or sign up online.

You are also encouraged to download the Genasys Protect App to subscribe to alerts in other areas where family members live or work. Having the app also makes it easy to monitor the status of specific zones during an emergency.
